Today's Gotham Knights update is an extended gameplay walkthrough that focuses on two of the playable characters: Nightwing and Red Hood. There are 13 minutes of gameplay to watch, detailing how the two characters in question play as well as a look at your home base. Also included is a brief look at the menus and gear options, with items all coming with their own rarity tier and stats ala Destiny.
Interestingly, the gameplay demo still only features two players in online co-op. Who knows if there's any merit to yesterday's leak, which hinted at four-player co-op in a PS Store listing.
Due to release on 25th October 2022, the game will now only launch for PlayStation 5. The PS4 version has been cancelled. The in-depth video ends by promoting pre-orders, meaning the game will be up for pre-order on the PS Store soon. You'll get the 233 Kustom Batcycle skin for committing cash early. There will also be a Deluxe Editon, which includes the Visionary Pack containing "exclusive gear, cosmetics, Beyond Suitstyle character skins inspired by the Batman Beyond animated series and more".

I really like the look of this..may be a day one purchase..
Deluxe version for me then, looks really good and i'm glad last gen ain't holding it back.
Looks really cool, I know I´m late, but I havent played Batman Arkham Knight yet. Is this game a sequel? Or is in another universe?
@Gbarsotini It's a standalone game, nothing to do with the Batman: Arkham series.
@LiamCroft Oh Ok, thank you for answering!
Am I the only one who fought this was way below expectations?
I mean - it could still be a fun game but I kinda hated all the character animations and the overall visuals weren't that impressive.
@Gbarsotini It's made by the studio that made Arkham Origins and it likely has many similar game mechanics but storywise it's supposed to be unrelated.
@Voltan Thank you!!
I think it looks fine. Not poor, not amazing either but still on the right track. The goons lined up and standing around waiting to fight 1v1 is really annoying.
So I have my next co-op game to play with my brother 😀
Glad they are still making co-op story driven games. This will be such an easy sell. 2 on the list.
@LiamCroft I know they’re saying that but it doesn’t look that way in this video. Even the way the cowl is all smashed up. I think it’s going to be an unofficial sequel. I also think Batman is going to turn up. He’s probably been taken by the court of owls or something. I just can’t see them leaving out the biggest draw of the series? Either way this is a day 1 for me. Looks brilliant
Graphics and frame rate look terrible for what is now supposedly a current gen only game.
Someone please explain to me how in one breath they say Red Hood fires non-lethal rounds and then the next they're showing an ability that pierces his enemies.
@Boucho11 Yeah, I'd be surprised if Batman is actually dead. It's not nearly as obvious as Captain America being alive in the Avengers game, but there is that same sort of vibe here too.
I’m glad it’s only for current gen. consoles. I’m ready for that to finally happen and we can have developers focus is on the power of the consoles and getting the most out of them without wasting resources for last gen. consoles.
As for Gotham Knights in general; it looks pretty good, although the combat does seem relatively janky, particularly with Red Hood. His gameplay portion seems similar to Star Lord from Guardians of the Galaxy - a fantastic game with serviceable combat.
Hopefully, this game is good and has a great story because it would be amazing to play this cooperatively with friends.
Looks pretty meh to me. The character models and animation looks kind of stiff and uninspired. The city/environments doesn't look as good as in the Arkham games. And yet another city to roam about in. Couldn't they have been a bit more creative with the setting? It's now the fourth game in a row taking part in a city.
Tbh I'd much rather buy the rumoured Switch Arkham collection, this looks pretty tame IMO.
It looks pretty fun! Though I will say combat looks a bit slower than what i remember from the Arkham games. It has been a while since I've played one though so I might be wrong. Should be a good time with a buddy though!
This needs more time in the oven, especially the animations. That mutant owl assassin fight scene was pretty bad. Jumping club to the face and hood staggers slightly? that should have knocked him halfway across the room.
@Voltan I agree. This wasn't very impressive to me at all. It looks better compared to Marvel's Avengers, but this type of looter-brawler genre doesn't seem to fit this universe. Also, similar to Avengers, they're going to have to fine-tune the gameplay even in single-player so that it isn't too flashy and visually overwhelming for that 2-player co-op session. I have a feeling the combat is going to feel much more restrictive than they're making it seem in this demo.
Also, spending minutes bashing on a bullet-sponge heavy enemy with unblockable attacks and revives doesn't look fun at all. And the massive framerate dips during that end fight? Yeesh....
@MFTWrecks Plus finishers with a stomp/kick down on the opponents head? Isn't it taking it taking the violence a bit too far?
I know they're not dying, because it's a superhero game, but still they would have if it had been real. The Arkham games were violent too with arms being broken and all, but at least it seemed more realistic the "victims" actually survived.
There's head stomping in Resident Evil 5 too, but that was done to zombies. There's a difference when it's human beings criminal or not IMO. It feels cheap.
@MFTWrecks That made me shake my head when I saw that. It reminds me of all the ridiculous "non-lethal" ways the Batmobile could borderline murder people in Arkham Knight.
This sure looks like a cross-gen game, cross-gen between PS3 and PS4 that is.
Now it makes sense why WB are desperate to sell their studios if this is the kind of progress we get from 9 years of development time.
Solo mode confirmed, Ima buy it now😃
@Gbarsotini I would play the Arkham series if you get the chance though as they are very good games. Asylum and City in particular.
Definitely getting Marvel’s Avengers vibes from this.
@LiamCroft I was even thinking the person the goons are talking about in the video could be Bruce Wayne?
This looks... very mediocre. It just screams that it's games as a service- spongey characters and uniteresting, weak attacks. None of that combat seems weighty or interesting.
If you compare it to Arkham Asylum, it has little personality, bad looking combat, and pretty uninterestingly designed open world. I just look at it and know the suits have had their hands all over it, the poor devs. A hard no from me
Looks remarkably generic.
I don't know if maybe the guy playing it wasn't actually very good, but the combat looked a little wafty to me... just doesn't have Arkham's impact?
Repetitive junk...No doubt..
@Ninjadeath2023 Yeah, I have played them when they launched for the PS3, really awesome games, Asylum beeing my favorite! Very creepy. It´s the last one, Arkham Knight, that I still haven´t played. It´s in my shelf for at least 4 years, maybe its time I give it a chance.
@Voltan Agreed, it looks pretty janky, not on par with Rocksteady, even combat looks somewhat off, even compared to Arkham Origins.
This looks awful..
As a Nightwing stan, I'm obviously looking forward to the game, but I do feel that this needs a lot of polishing. Jason's traversal as magical bunny-hopping bc he was revived by the Lazarus Pit was certainly a choice, I don't love the civilian character models for either Dick or Jason, and Dick's walking animation in the Belfry was so hulking that it looked more like Jason's. These characters all have such a great history that I really want to see attention given to making them unique, true to their characters, and feel different when you switch from one to another.
At the very least, Dick's acrobatic fighting style looks great tho, and there's still time for the game to be polished up a bit! It'll likely be a day one buy for me just because I'm a huge Nightwing fan.
That's a really thicc Dick.
I’m up in the air to get this Day 1 since most of the other Arkham games got season DLC and added cosmetics down the line in a “premium” edition. I want to play this but I’d rather start when everything for the game is released. I just finished most of the Arkham games recently so it’s difficult restraining to push the trigger on it.
Looks pretty good but combat looks a little floaty for my liking. Not a huge fan of some of the animation either. Hopefully will exceed current expectaions.
I had no idea it’s single player game too apparently 🧐
Nightwing looks fun, but Red Hood seems to be the odd man out of the four. His combat and traversal doesn't seem to fit as well as the others. I know his thing is his guns, but i feel they should have gave him more melee combat options. Still looks like a good game. Will definitely be playing this.
Looks fine and could be fun, if a little generic and uninspired. But it's just a small slice of gameplay i guess.
One little thing that could be better is how moving a certain distance doesn't seem to match animations sometimes, like floating/sliding in addition, makes it look less refined.
Hope it's challenging in interesting ways, combat, exploration, puzzles, and vehicles.
Idk, something feels off about this one... Combat with Red Hood seems extremely boring and Nightwing seems a bit slower than I was expecting. The 4 characters are a good idea, it adds variety...but judging by these cutscenes those two seem to be super meh and the story seems uninteresting so far.
I hope I am wrong, I love the Arkham series and this style of game! Let's see...
I'm feeling a bit conflicted about this. The gameplay looks pretty ok. but not very different from Arkham Origins, which I also found to be pretty ok. Not outstanding, but...ok. I am interested in multiple playthroughs with different characters, but they need to clean up some of the things already mentioned above. They also need to liven up the city a little; it looks nearly as empty as AO did - hopefully now that the last gen version is dropped, they can add some more atmosphere.
Let's call it cautiously optimistic. But at the moment, Hogwarts is winning my "which one to get first" race.
I know I'm being pessimistic and more, but this just looks like a Batman take on Marvel's Avengers — and we know how that turned out. I like the idea of potential seamless coop where people can drop in and join you in fighting crime, but the RPG-ifying (seeing all the numbers and stats on the outfits) or looter-shooter-ifying of a game that should effectively just be a brawler makes me think there'll be a lot of pointless busywork for the sake of padding out "hundreds of hours of gameplay".
Any word on whether this is being looked at as a GaaS?
This won't be a day one buy sadly due to a recent salary cut at work, but still looking forward to picking this up eventually in a future sale.
This game needs more polishing, was not really impressed here. Jason's bunny hopping "Mystical Leap" technique, as seen near the beginning, was just laughable.
It looks nice but this should be ableto run on a PS4 the new Horizon looks so much better and runs great.
Oh wow. I was interested until this walkthrough lol. Those characters are naff.
